  3.   Ssu-ma Ch'ien became the court astrologer to 
  4. Chinese Emperor Wu Ti of the Han dynasty. It was 
  5. accepted practice in this era of Chinese history 
  6. for the Emperor to have his own astrologer. Ssu-ma 
  7. Ch'ien is famous for having written "Shih Chi" 
  8. (Records of the Historian) which was a comprehensive 
  9. chronicle of ancient Chinese history. In his waning 
  10. years, he was suspected of disloyalty to the emperor 
  11. and was castrated.
